The Hackett Award
A Pennridge Little League Tradition since 1994

Each year the Hackett Award is given to the Pennridge Little League Majors Division Championship team.

James Hackett was a founder and organizer of the Pennridge Little League in 1954, and in 1967 received the organization's annual Service Trophy for 14 years of dedication to the league. For 32 years he officiated at the league's Opening Day ceremonies.

Hackett was a businessman, newsman, Perkasie borough manager and Pennridge School Board member, sports editor for the Daily Intelligencer in Doylestown. He was area correspondent for many years for the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin and Allentown Call-Chronicle, now The Morning Call. He was also a founder of the sports newspaper The Bux-Mont Star. Hackett was a reporter and editor for the News-Herald, and an announcer and radio sports director for WBUX, Doylestown
